Wolf Totem – 8

This movie was visually spectacular. I didn’t know much about the Mongolians or wolves for that matter. But this movie was definitely an enlightenment from the way of life to hunting to the constant moving so that they could provide food and water for their children. This movie revolved around one of two students sent into one of the Mongolian groups to teach reading. He grew accustomed (as did the other) to their way of life and even fell in love with a widowed mother. Wolves, while sacred, were a threat to their sheep. In an effort to save their food, baby wolves were “given to the gods”. This one young man happened to find a wolf and decided to raise it.

The trials that followed…

It was a very interesting documentary drama format. As I’ve said before in other posts, IMAX didn’t make much of a difference (only offered in IMAX) but it was well worth the watch. If you don’t have the time or money right now, I still suggest it when it comes on Netflix.
