Child’s Play. No really, Child’s Play. We all know that the cartoons we grew up with aren’t the same anymore. Spongebob, Power Puff Girls, American Dragon, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Teen Titans. Some times the animation changes. Some times the story line does.I’m pretty sure it’s geared towards the kids who grew up with Spongebob – me, you, ya know not the current generation of anyone under 15. The problem is, as we all know, the original Spongebob cartoons were so much better. The new episodes seem to be fishing for something… haha get it? Anyways, I’ve never noticed how dumb Spongebob is and I think it’s the movie and not the character. Sure there were some cute parts and even some parts that were funny but it just seemed like a really long, unending episode. Either way, the shows now aren’t even half as good as they were 10 years ago. This movie is based off the newer episodes in style, drama, and stupidity. I honestly didn’t find it entertaining but many young kids will tell you otherwise. Not to mention that it’s a bit dark. I didn’t even notice until a few days later and a family wanted a refund because their kid found it too scary. Apparently the “end is near” wasn’t working for them.
Honestly, with all the tidbits and trailers you find on youtube, you’ve basically seen the whole thing? Spongebob isn’t full of many surprises. He’s really predictable (as is all the characters in all episodes). It just seemed like Nick needed to hit the big screens and this seemed the best weekend to do it. After all, the other movies that are out this weekend are a little worse off. Spongebob might actually be the new movie of choice.
I can’t believe I just wrote that.
