From the Rough

I didn’t really know much about this story before I watched the movie but it definitely does bring something different to the table (as I’m sure Million Dollar Arm will as well). But what this movie seemed to leave out was the real struggle that they went through and the amount of anger, frustration, failure, and practice that all involved had to suffer through. Sure, this was a Disney movie but that doesn’t mean “From the Rough” had to be any less heartwarming. But Disney pulled its same old same old. Someone faces a challenge, takes on the challenge through thick and thin until it gets too much to handle. They decide to give up but words of encouragement from an unsuspecting source (the viewers always knew who it was going to be) and they try again. They win the challenge and the challenger comes around in the end. Everyone becomes friends or lives happily ever after, etc. This happened in High School Musical, every version of Disney’s Cinderella, and this movie as well. Honestly, I’m disappointed. Mostly because this movie was based on a true story and it seemed a bit trivialized. Over all, it made me want to look up the true story but the movie in and of itself left me a bit… empty.
